Students from 1970’s to 1980’s pay a visit to the former headmistress of MMOFRATURO GIRLS’ SCHOOL.
Ms. Grace Regina Boateng, former Headmistress of Mmofraturo Girls Boarding School in Kumasi, received a call from former students.
The 13-member delegation of Old Students led by Sis. Doris Danso, Sis. Esther Atakora, Sis. Janet Owusu Appiah, and Sis. Betty Bempong presented the 79-year-old former Headmistress with a bespoke portrait, citation, and an undisclosed sum of financial donation.
Ms. Grace Regina Boateng was taken aback by the visit, particularly after leaving Mmofraturo with mixed feelings. She described various tales and circumstances that occurred at Mmofraturo during her stint as Headmistress, which were rigorous disciplinary acts to nurture and train a group of responsible girls for Ghana’s and the world’s future. A vow she kept to herself as her purpose at Mmofraturo was to instill character and self-discipline in the girls. As a result, she was overjoyed to see the girls she fostered and groomed as Headmistress visit her later in life as mothers, grandmothers, and responsible citizens making a genuine difference in Ghana and around the world.
The 13-member delegates, on the other hand, apologized to their former Headmistress on behalf of other former school, and classmates, including those in diaspora, who were unable to attend the visit but were fully supportive of the visit, and also thanked their former Headmistress for instilling in them the discipline that turned them into responsible adults and citizens, which would not have been the case had she overlooked their youthful exuberance.
Ms. Regina Boateng and her family, who were clearly thrilled with the visit, thanked her former students for the honor they bestowed upon her.
The following is a note from one of the former School Prefects, Ms. Harriet Anita Araba Abaidoo (Parliamentary candidate for Okaikor South, 2012/2016), who was out of the country when the Former students paid her visit.
